How to use the peeler

CAUTION!

Read, understand and follow all use and safety instructions to avoid injury.

This utensil includes very sharp blades that can injure you. If the peeler blades hit your skin they can create a deep cut.

• Keep your fingers and hands away from blades at all times.

• Keep the peeler out of children’s reach.

• Store the peeler in its box.

Before first use

Put the peeler through the dishwasher or wash and dry it carefully by hand. If washing by hand, be extra careful of the sharp blades.

To use the standard peeler blade

The standard peeler blade removes a thin layer of the food it is used on. It can be used to peel the skin off fruit or vegetables or to create very thin slices of hard food such as chocolate or hard cheese.

1. Place the food on a cutting board and hold the end of the food with a fork or your free hand.

2. Place the standard blade on the food at a 45 degree angle and pull the peeler towards the opposite end of the food. The thickness of the slice is determined by the amount of pressure you apply. Applying more pressure will give a thicker slice.

3. Take care to avoid contact between the blades and your hands. Never peel towards your fingers.

4. Rotate the food as needed after each stroke and repeat step 2 until the food is peeled or sliced.

5. Wash and dry the peeler in the dishwasher or by hand. Be extra careful of the sharp blades when handling the peeler. When the peeler is dry store it in its box to protect your hands and the blades.

To use the julienne peeler blade

The julienne blade cuts food into thin strips, ‘julienne’ style. It is ideal for making zucchini or carrot noodles and julienne vegetables for salads or garnishes.

1. Peel the food if desired before using the julienne peeler, following the instructions above for the standard peeler blade.

2. Place the food on a cutting board and hold the end of the food with a fork or your free hand.

3. Place the julienne blade on the food at a 45 degree angle and firmly pull the peeler towards the opposite end of the food. Take care to avoid contact between the blades and your hands. Never peel towards your fingers.

4. The peeler will cut fine strips of the food. Remove the cut strips from the top of the food and from the peeler.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the desired amount of food is cut into fine strips.

6. For shorter strips use shorter peeler strokes. If needed, rotate the food between strokes.

7. Wash and dry the peeler in the dishwasher or by hand. Be extra careful of the sharp blades when handling the peeler. When the peeler is dry store it in its box to protect your hands and the blades.
